Since 1951 the Nebraska Rural Radio Association has been broadcasting information vital to our farms and ranches, including daily grain and livestock markets, weather and farm reports. Proudly owned by the many men and women in agriculture, our start can be attributed to several events including one of the worst blizzards in Nebraska history, and the lack of adequate radio coverage resulting not only in the loss of human life but thousands of animals across the Nebraska and Kansas plains.
From its humble beginning at 1010 on the AM dial, the Nebraska Rural Radio Association has grown into a network of six radio stations, KRVN, KNEB and KTIC, providing coverage from the Eastern edge of Iowa west to the Colorado plains and from South Dakota south into Kansas. With our network of Farm Broadcasters we provide our listeners in depth coverage from all across the country and even overseas!
The Nebraska Rural Radio Foundation was created in memory of Max Brown, the founder and general manager of KRVN from 1951 to 1979. Our mission is to provide educational opportunities for rural Nebraskans and to assist others in telling the story of agriculture. We have created this foundation to honor the legacy of Max Brown and to preserve the history of agriculture for generations to come.
